About
My art is a tribute to the quiet moments and hidden stories of nature. I create mystical realism oil paintings that capture animals in their most honest and unguarded expressions. Whether it’s the resilient spirit of a one-legged sparrow or the unapologetic trust of a cat showing its back, I strive to honor the lives and emotions of animals as grand, precious, and equal beings. My goal is not just to create beautiful art but to change how people see and value the natural world through storytelling and emotion.
Through my work, I hope to bridge the gap between humans and animals, inspiring a sense of respect, love, and responsibility for the creatures and ecosystems we share our planet with. Each painting is not only a visual experience but also a step toward advocacy, as I dedicate a portion of my earnings to wildlife conservation and animal rescue efforts. I want my art to spark curiosity, evoke emotion, and encourage a deeper connection to nature.
My Story
Born in Serbia and raised in Japan, my journey as an artist began in a world of contrasts—between cultures, languages, and environments. As a child, I found solace in drawing and painting, often preferring the company of animals to people. My early years were marked by a deep connection to nature and a sense of adventure, often playing pretend with my childhood pets and finding stories in their every movement.
Moving often, from Serbia to the U.S. and back to Japan, I struggled to find a sense of belonging. Art became my constant, a way to communicate when words fell short. My fascination with animals grew stronger as I witnessed the profound beauty of their resilience—like the sparrow I named One Leg, who thrived despite its disability, embodying a strength and will to live that inspired my Disabled Animals series.
My paintings are more than depictions of animals; they are narratives of trust, contentment, and survival. I focus on capturing animals in non-ordinary poses and angles, celebrating the beauty of the overlooked—the awkward tilt of a bird’s head or the endearing presentation of a cat’s back. These images are a reminder that animals, too, deserve honor and reverence.
My work is driven by a purpose that extends beyond the canvas. After being deeply moved by the Amazon fires in 2019, I began donating to conservation efforts. I realized that my art could become a vehicle for real change, offering buyers a way to not only own a unique piece but also support wildlife conservation and animal rescue. My dream is to collaborate with conservation organizations, contributing to initiatives that restore natural habitats and offer animals a chance to thrive.
I paint not for the pleasure of the act but for the potential impact. The art itself is my tool—a way to bring awareness, to encourage a shift in perspective, and to contribute to a better world for animals and nature. My ultimate goal is to create a legacy of art that serves as a testament to the beauty of the natural world and the power of compassion.
